Since it’s launch in 2010, White Mink : Black Cotton (Electro Swing vs Speakeasy Jazz) has been at the very forefront of a burgeoning new scene. The compilation series was described by dance music bible Mixmag as “Electro Swing’s first landmark moment” and has since gone on to achieve cult status and award-winning sales. The inaugural launch party has since evolved into a world-class events company under the same White Mink umbrella, with shows from Berlin to Glastonbury Festival, Shepherds Bush Empire to Latitude Festival…
We always envisioned that the vintage Black Cotton side of our double CD’s (featuring original classics by the likes of Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway) would provide context and inspiration for future producers.
BLACK COTTON REMIXED - as it says on the tin - is the first in a series of EPs that will feature newly commissioned, never before heard remixes of classic vintage tracks from the original CD’s. From seasoned pioneers’ like Swing Republic (on My Daddy Rocks Me) to dance floor favourites like Germany’s Wolfgang Lohr and (co-founder of Berlin’s Electro Swing Revolution) Louie Prima to the chance to open the doors for new-comers like Osundi.
BLACK COTTON REMIXED represents the expansion of a genre which continues to evolve in new directions.
